Today, the GregCast is in the woods to make a connection between “faithful citizenship” and swingin’ in the trees, stopping & going, gettin’ over walls, and jumpin’ off of really tall poles. Here’s what the Pope says:
"Only my readiness to encounter my neighbor and to show him love makes me sensitive to God as well. Only if I serve my neighbor can my eyes be opened to what God does for me and how much he loves me. The saints (consider the example of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta) constantly renewed their capacity for love of neighbor from their encounter with the Eucharistic Lord, and conversely this encounter acquired its real- ism and depth in their service to others. Love of God and love of neighbor are thus inseparable, they form a single commandment. But both live from the love of God who has loved us first. - Pope Benedict XVI - Deus Caritas Est, no. 18

With ONE week to go before the 2008 Presidential Election, I wanted to offer a simple prayer instead of a political style, specially crafted message... May our hearts and our minds open be open to God’s will, and the will of all his people!

This is the last installment in the Faithful Citizenship Series. The retrospective attempts to sum it all up: Vote your faith, and have the courage to take a stand on issues that matter, and people YOU trust to lead us all into the challenge of living together as one body in Christ! The GregCast will be taking a few weeks off, but Greg will be back at the beginning of December in time for Advent and the Christmas Season!
Thanks to all for supporting this adventure in faith, and thanks to the United States Catholic Bishops for their efforts in helping us all understand how to be a “faithful citizen”! Most of all, let us thank God for our freedoms and our ability to share in the future of our country’s well being... GOD BLESS AMERICA!
